Name: Thailynn Munroe
Affiliation: NASA/SERVIR SCO
Role/Title: Graduate Research Assistant
Year you joined SERVIR: 2016

Please introduce yourself. What are you passionate about?
Hello, my name is Thai and I am a Graduate Research Assistant with SERVIR-Mekong. I am very passionate about helping others and making a difference in our community, both locally and globally! I enjoy volunteering and helping to answer environment-related questions through my research. In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors with my pets and family, as well as creating things (through activities like knitting, brewing kombucha, and baking).

What initially attracted you to this field of work?
I have always wanted to have an impactful career, and I love nature. Entering the field of Geosciences seemed like a no-brainer, especially coming from an Atmospheric Science background.

What SERVIR activity are you currently working on?
Currently, I am working on producing scripts that calculate the volume of a reservoir built after the year 2000 based on its surface area. I am also preparing a tutorial for the SWAT Hydrologic Model.

How does your work generate positive change?
My work can be used to help others make informed decisions on water resource management, and hopefully help to inspire more people to learn about hydrologic modelling and NASA Earth Science Applications.
