The Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) in Nairobi and its partner organization, SERVIR-Eastern and Southern Africa, hosted two-day stakeholders’ and consultations workshops from 23-31 May 2016 in Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania, respectively. The purpose was to assess the needs of decision-makers in the region and identify gaps in availability of geospatial tools for use by various stakeholders, including government agencies in the Eastern and Southern African region. The workshops engaged stakeholders from various agencies and institutions to (1) foster understanding of the projects these stakeholders are implementing, (2) pinpoint the climate-related issues they face, and (3) identify their needs, gaps, and challenges related to geospatial data availability/ acquisition, geospatial tools used, and capacity building in the form of training required to develop and use the tools.
