Dr. Kerri-Ann Jones, Assistant Secretary of State – Bureau of Oceans & International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, visited the SERVIR-Africa hub at RCMRD to learn more about SERVIR’s science and applications in the region as well as about the NASA and USAID partnership.
The Google Map Maker Global Competition runs from December 15, 2009 to January 31, 2010. Participants can win a grand prize if they add the most universities, schools, hospitals, and medical clinics into Google Map Maker ,plus their efforts will win $50,000 for UNICEF 's work empowering young people through technology in the winner's homeland. Mapping of universities, schools, hospitals, and medical clinics will help humanitarian organizations like UNICEF do their jobs better. Having a complete, accurate and rich map on Google can also help people in communities, businesses, tourism boards, civil services, and emergency rescue workers.
