Dr. Evan Thomas, director of the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder, leads one of SERVIR’s Applied Sciences Team projects supporting the SERVIR-Eastern and Southern Africa hub. Dr. Thomas’s project uses NASA Earth observing satellite data and data from sensors on groundwater pumps, received by the Drought Resilience Impact Platform (DRIP), to assess the potential for drought in Ethiopia and Kenya. Read a recent NASA feature article on his project to find out this project is monitoring drought conditions to inform decision makers: A Steady DRIP with NASA Satellites.
