SERVIR Profile of Malemi Chetima Zeinam

Malemi Chetima Zeinam, intern for AGRHYMET/SERVIR-West Africa

Name: Malemi Chetima Zeinam
Affiliation: SERVIR-WA
Role/Title: Intern
Year you joined SERVIR: 2017

Please introduce yourself. What are you passionate about?
My name is Malemi Chetima Zeinam and I have been an intern for SERVIR - West Africa since November 2017. I work with the finance, grant and operations team and the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) lead. I want to make a positive change in people's lives, teaming up and working for the sustainable development of our country. I am interested in project management, capacity building and women empowerment.

What initially attracted you to this field of work?
I always wanted to be surrounded by people coming from different places and backgrounds, to work in a multicultural environment.  Working for an international organization such as SERVIR-West Africa, is in my opinion, a great experience and fulfilling because our main goal is to help individuals use data for better understanding of geospatial information, improve decision making, and reduce the effects of climate change on our environment.

What SERVIR activity are you currently working on?
I am actually assisting the Monitoring and Evaluation Lead on the workshops held in Niger lately. Together we analyze the self-evaluation tests of the participants to help them and their organizations with their activities.

How does your work generate positive change?
I believe each day every single person contributes in making a positive change. As for me, I had the opportunity to work with a consultant on the processes in the Regional Center AGRHYMET. This has enabled us to see how the various departments work and how to help them enhance their daily activities in order for them to be more efficient.
