GeoAI

SERVIR uses GeoAI to make advances in Earth observation and artificial intelligence more accessible, useful, and scalable. We build shared capabilities that regional partners can adapt to local needs, helping turn rapidly evolving technologies into trusted, operational services. Our approach is open, interoperable, and flexible so that new models and technologies can be incorporated as they evolve.

GeoAI is embedded across SERVIR’s platforms, providing shared capabilities for analyzing Earth observation data, evaluating and applying AI models, and translating complex information into decision support. Each platform applies these capabilities to a different set of operational challenges.

Platforms

SERVIR is building shared, interoperable platforms that bring together Earth observation, scientific models, analytical tools, and regional expertise to support locally relevant decision-making. These platforms provide reusable capabilities that regional partners can adapt to their own needs, accelerating innovation and enabling proven science and technology to be deployed and scaled across the SERVIR network.

SERVIR is advancing three core platforms:

Global Risk
The Global Risk platform brings together information on hazards, exposure, and vulnerability to support risk assessment, early warning, preparedness, and more informed decisions before, during, and after extreme weather and climate events.

Food Security
The Food Security platform monitors agricultural conditions, anticipates threats to food production, and strengthens food security decision-making. It brings together information on crops, weather, water, and other factors to support agricultural monitoring, production forecasting, and earlier identification of emerging food security risks.

Land Cover, Land Cover Change, and Environmental Monitoring.
The Land Cover, Land Cover Change, and Environmental Monitoring platform strengthens our understanding of how landscapes are changing and what those changes mean for people and ecosystems. It supports consistent monitoring of land cover and land use to inform forest and ecosystem management, conservation, restoration, agriculture, and sustainable land-use planning.
